Ben Cichorz

Ben served 27 years in the military, beginning his service as a C5 Crew Chief in the U.S Air Force and then transitioning to the Army National Guard. He served his first 8 years as an enlisted service member and retired in 2022 as a Major. Going from mechanic to Logistician Ben also was selected for unique roles, most notably serving for four years as a Congressional Liaison in the Senate. Working on behalf of the U.S. Army and as a member of Senator Joe Manchin’s office on his Legislative Defense Team, Ben’s job was to represent the Army and learn how Congress ticked. Regarding education, Ben’s “A-ha” moment came while in Senator Manchin’s office preparing for upcoming testimony. While staffing potential subjects for the Senator’s thoughts on the Armed Service Committee the question was asked: “What is the greatest threat to National Security?”, the answer offered jarred him: “Poor U.S. Public Education”. From that moment on Ben has looked at the education of our nation’s youth differently and realized that it is critical that lawmakers look at our Public Education through the lens of National Security and how ill-prepared our country will be if we let our nation’s youth down by not preparing them for the future. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
